Kimolos may be a small island but has a lot of beauty inside. We will suggest you some places you can visit and make your vacation unforgettable.

Chorio (Main Village)

In the village you can visit the Medieval Castle, the Archaeological and Folklore Museum and the Post-Byzantine churches. Our village is built according to Cycladic architecture.

In Xaplovouni you can see the windmills. Today, 7 are left on the island, which are not operational.

And if you want to see the village from above, you can continue to the church of the Pantokratoras. There are windmills in the area of ​​Karkanis.

Near the northern exit of the village there is the old stone bridge in Panoklima.

At the southern exit of the village, visit the picturesque fishing village of Goupa with the “sirmata”, which are caves carved into the soft rock, where fishermen keep their boats.

Skiadi

One of the rarest monuments that is included in the Atlas of Geological Monuments of the Aegean.
In the northwestern part of the island, there is a huge stone mushroom, which is called “Skiadi”. Skiadi owes its creation to the various rocks that is composed of and the very strong winds that blow in that area. Something you should definitely visit…

Mysterious Beaches

If you have a boat, you can see the carved cave in “Kakopotamos” and swim in the warm thermal water that gushes at Agioklima beach or explore the cave in “Kavos of Gerakia”. Finally, it is impressive “Tou Geronikolas t’Apsila”, which are made of thin layers of gray-white volcanic rocks.

Aliki – Agios Georgios

If you visit Kimolos in the spring, the lake near the beach of Aliki hosts many migratory species of birds.
On the beach at the cape of Agios Georgios you can see the carved figure on the rock.

Ellinika – Mavrospilia

Here you will see the sunken ancient city of the island, while on the beach you will see many ancient tombs from the Mycenaean to the Hellenistic period. In the same area there are “Aspragremna” (rocks in the sea), while the most observant will discover the fossils of marine organisms.

Prasa

At the entrance of the settlement of Prasa, you will see the facilities of the thermal baths, while from the cape of Agios Georgios you can see the caves of the Mediterranean seal “Monachus-Monachus”. Also in Prasa you will see the old loading ladder of the ships, as well as the betomine mines. You can also visit the half-submerged cave in Vromolimni.
